Resurrection Life - Colossians

Do the clothes you wear affect how you feel? How do you feel when you put on the clothes you wear to work as opposed when you get dressed up to attend a wedding or when you put on some lounge clothes for a day at home?

Being a Christian is more than simply being moral and decent. In this passage, Paul explains that the source of a transformed life is union with Jesus in his resurrection. Because we now possess this resurrection life, we are to embody Jesus’ life in ours by putting sin to death and living in the resurrection life we have been given in Christ.

Bible teacher David Guzik states that in Colossians 3, “Paul… begins a section where he focuses on practical Christian living, with the clear understanding that practical Christian living is built on the foundation of theological truth….” Share an example of how you’ve seen this to be true in your spiritual growth.
Why are we to put to death all the things listed in verses 5-9?
Considering verse 11, are there any social or cultural divisions you tend to adhere to within the local church? Why do you think that is? What is one thing you could do to encourage unity in regard to any divisions you’ve observed?
Compare the foundation and perspective that leads to the things we should “put off” to that which leads to the things we should “put on”? (verses 5-17)
How can you better engage in letting “the word of Christ dwell in you richly”?
What is one way you can be involved in teaching and admonishing your brothers and sisters in Christ in a way that promotes unity and spiritual growth?
