A New Church is Born - Acts

ACTS 16:6-17:15

On a second missionary journey. Paul, Silas, Timothy and Luke are sent, by the Holy Spirit, to Macedonia to preach the gospel. They begin by stopping in Philippi where Lydia, a demon possessed girl and jailer find freedom and faith in Jesus. This came through the suffering, gospel presentation and the work of God.

QUESTIONS

Why do you think Paul and the team went to Philippi? Acts 16:12

Lydia was most likely well off financially. What are the blessings and curses that wealth can bring? Acts 16:14

How could Paul and Silas be praying and singing after being beaten, in stocks and locked up in prison? Acts 16:22-24

Can you think of any examples of lives radically changed by the gospel? Acts 16:33-34

In Acts 17:1-15 there is a contrast between Jews who reject Paul’s message about Jesus and those who search the scriptures for answers. In our day with so much Christian media around (podcasts, YouTube, etc.). How can we practice discernment like the Bereans?
