The Journey to Change - Genesis
Read the summary of the Sunday sermon: Joseph has risen in power out of the depths of prison. As famine grips the region, his brothers come to Egypt for food in order for them to survive. When Joseph sees them, he begins a process of testing to see whether they are changed men. At the end of this testing Joseph does see their change and he saves them by bring them to Egypt reuniting Joseph with his father and all his brothers.

Discussion Questions:
Joseph and his brothers were separated for at least 20 years. Given the history of how his brothers treated him, how would you feel if you were in Joseph’s position?
Why do you think Joseph puts his brothers through this series of tests?
The hinge of this story occurs in Gen. 44:16-34, where Judah offers his life so that Benjamin doesn’t go into slavery. How does this moment shed light on God’s redeeming work in our lives?
Read Genesis 45:7-8. How does Joseph’s comment display the purpose of God behind what has happened to him?
How does this story display the heart of true repentance and reconciliation?
Because Joseph was in a position of authority and power, he was able to save his family from starvation. How might you use your position of influence for the good of others this week?
Think about a moment in your life where God’s sovereignty was made clear to you, especially in the midst of difficulty or suffering. How did God meet you in that moment?
List a few ways that this story points to Jesus as its fulfillment.
Prayer: Pray for the person on your right, that they would experience the faithfulness and sovereignty of God in a new way in their life this week.
